The Green Bridge

Elevated green walkway linking Lumphini and Benjakitti parks.
About The Green Bridge
The Green Bridge is an elevated walkway, about 1.6 km long, that links the northeast corner of Lumphini Park to Benjakitti Forest Park near Asok. It was built in 1999 and runs over Witthayu Road, canal-side communities and an expressway. The BMA renovated it and reopened it officially on 1 May 2026, with granite walking paths, colored sport-surface cycle lanes, ramps and lifts.
Walking the full length takes about 20 to 30 minutes, or longer if you stop for photos of the skyline and the old canal homes below. Walkers and cyclists have separate lanes. Some vendors below still send drinks up in a bucket on a rope. It is free and needs no booking.
It suits a walking date between two parks: start in Lumphini, cross the bridge, then end at Benjakitti's lake and skywalk for sunset. Early morning is cool and full of locals exercising. If you go in the evening, check how much of the route is lit.
Why it works for a date
- Car-free link between two big parks
- Views of skyline and canal communities
- Freshly renovated surfaces and cycle lanes
- Charming bucket-and-rope drink vendors
Good to be aware of
- Was unfinished in early 2026, with blocked sections reported
- Hot with little shade at midday
- Sources disagree on lighting after dark
