Rot Fai Park

Wachirabenchathat Park, great for cycling on shaded paths.
About Rot Fai Park
Rot Fai Park, officially Wachirabenchathat Park, is a large public park on Kamphaeng Phet 3 Road in Chatuchak, just north of Chatuchak Park and the weekend market. It was once a golf course owned by the State Railway and is now a shady green space of about 375 rai, with mature trees, lakes, and old train engines and carriages near the entrance.
Most people come to cycle. Rental shops at the entrance charge roughly 20 to 60 baht, depending on the bike and the source, and a flat track of about 2 to 3 km loops the park. You can also rent paddle boats or kayaks from about 50 baht an hour, rent a picnic mat for about 20 baht, or visit the free Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium. Entry is free.
It makes a cheap, relaxed date. You can ride side by side, then spread a mat under the trees for a picnic. Go in the early morning or late afternoon, when it is cooler. Weekdays are quieter, because weekends bring crowds of cyclists. The butterfly garden closes at 4:30 pm and is shut on Mondays, so plan that part earlier in the day.

- Cheap bike rentals and flat cycling track
- Clean, well-kept paths
