About Vertigo & Moon Bar

Vertigo and Moon Bar sit on the open-air 61st-floor roof of the Banyan Tree Bangkok hotel at 21/100 South Sathorn Road. Vertigo is a grill restaurant along a long, narrow roof deck, and Moon Bar is the cocktail bar beside it. Both have 360-degree views of the skyline. To get there you take a lift to level 59 and then climb two flights of stairs. A glass 'Moon Walk' platform is the main photo spot.

Moon Bar serves cocktails such as the Vertigo Sunset. A beer costs about 292 baht with tax and service, and wine starts around 500 baht plus charges. Tripadvisor mentions an 800 baht minimum spend for non-hotel guests. At Vertigo, set dinners have been around 3,100 baht, or 4,500 baht with wine pairing, with dishes such as sirloin with red wine sauce. Smart casual dress is enforced.

This is one of Bangkok's classic rooftops for couples, and more than half of Wongnai reviews call it a good couples spot. Guides say to arrive around 17:00 to 18:30 for sunset and a good table, since the bar does not take bookings and gets busy. Right now it is closed for renovation, so treat it as one to save for when it reopens.

Why it works for a date

  • Sweeping 360-degree skyline views
  • Great at sunset
  • Polished luxury-hotel service
  • Glass Moon Walk photo spot

Good to be aware of

  • Temporarily closed for renovation
  • Pricey drinks and strict dress code
  • Crowded at peak times, and haze can spoil the view
