Hong Sieng Kong

Café in an old Chinese riverside house in Talat Noi.
About Hong Sieng Kong
Hong Sieng Kong is a café in Talat Noi, the old riverside quarter next to Chinatown, on Soi Wanit 2 off Charoen Krung Road. It fills two buildings that are around 200 years old and were once a Chinese inn and warehouse. Inside you find ornate railings, wooden furniture and antique oriental pieces, and a patio opens straight onto the Chao Phraya River.
The drinks are the draw. The Talad Noi Orange Coffee (140 baht) adds citrus to strong coffee, and the Coconut Blossom Coffee is also 140 baht. The menu also has sparkling teas, tarts and cakes around 140 to 200 baht, and small plates such as fried salmon fins with fish sauce. Wongnai puts it at 101 to 250 baht per person.
It works well for a slow afternoon date: take a riverside table, order a drink and a cake, and stay into the evening. Daniel Food Diary reports a live band on weekends. The café is also an easy stop on a walk through Talat Noi's lanes and street art.
