About Ongsa Moo Kata
Ongsa Moo Kata (Ongsa Mookata, องศาหมูกะทะ) is a Thai grill-and-hotpot restaurant in Khlong Nueng, Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, next to Thammasat University's Rangsit campus near the Chiang Rak gate. It is a large open-air hall with a high roof, so it does not feel cramped, and it is usually full of university students.
It is not a buffet. You order a moo kata set, then help yourself to free vegetables, glass noodles, dipping sauce and ice cream. Sets include marinated pork, pork belly, liver, shrimp, squid and crab sticks. Wongnai lists sets at ฿250, ฿350, ฿450 and ฿550, while Ryoii lists ฿200, ฿300 and ฿400. Reviewers value the prices and the traditional dipping sauce.
This is a casual, low-cost evening date and fun if you like grilling together over a big pan with a strong flame. It opens late in the afternoon and runs until 11:30pm, so it works for dinner. It is far north of central Bangkok, so it suits couples who live or study near Rangsit.
