Ngowpochana

Thai restaurant in Prachathipat, Thanyaburi.
About Ngowpochana
Ngowpochana (โหงวโภชนา) is a long-running Chinese-Thai khao tom (rice soup and side dishes) shophouse in Rangsit Market, at the first junction of Phahonyothin Soi 135 in Thanyaburi, opposite Major Rangsit. The shophouse is air-conditioned and has more seating upstairs. It is simple and busy rather than fancy.
People come for stir-fried dishes to share with rice or rice soup: the chicken with cashew nuts that reviewers call legendary, dry stir-fried fish maw, squid with salted egg, water spinach and sour soups. Reviewers describe the food as Chinese and Thai flavours that are rich, a little spicy and well balanced. Wongnai puts the spend at about ฿101-250 per person.
This is a casual late-afternoon or evening meal rather than a dressy date. It suits a couple who like old-school local favourites, maybe before or after a film at Major Rangsit across the road. It opens in the afternoon, so go early for dinner to beat the queues.
