Le Du Kaan

Thai restaurant on the 56th floor of The Empire tower.
About Le Du Kaan
Le Du Kaan is a Thai rooftop restaurant on the 56th floor of The Empire tower on South Sathorn Road, part of the EA Rooftop complex. It comes from Chef Thitid 'Ton' Tassanakajohn of the Michelin-starred Le Du. The space has a lounge, a Thai bar, a main dining room with gold accents and artwork inspired by the Chao Phraya, and an open-air sky bar with views across the whole city.
The seasonal menu reworks Thai classics with local produce. Examples include som tam with soft-shell crab (420 baht), gaeng som with banana prawn (680 baht) and holy basil fried rice with braised Thai wagyu (2,200 baht). Desserts cost about 350 to 390 baht and cocktails about 360 baht. Lunch sets are the gentler way in, at 890++ for two courses and 1,190++ for three.
This is a special-occasion date with the view doing much of the work. Book ahead and ask for a window table, or come around sunset for cocktails on the sky bar before dinner. Tripadvisor reviewers say the view is stronger than the food and service, so the lunch set or drinks can be the better value.
Why it works for a date
- Wide 360-degree skyline views from the 56th floor
- Refined, seasonal Thai dishes from Chef Ton's team
- Lunch sets that are good value for the setting
- Creative cocktails and desserts
Good to be aware of
- Expensive, and some diners found the food uneven for the price
- Service can be inattentive when it gets busy
- The lift is hard to find, and walkways are dimly lit
