Banthat Thong Road

Street-food road near Chula, busiest at night.
About Banthat Thong Road
Banthat Thong Road runs through Wang Mai in Pathum Wan, between Siam and Hua Lamphong, alongside Chulalongkorn University. Some call it a second Yaowarat. Its old shophouses mix with modern cafes, and the street fills with lights, food smells and a young crowd in the evening.
Along the road you can eat Michelin Bib Gourmand tom yum instant noodles at Jeh O Chula, crispy chive cakes, boat noodles and seafood rice soup. Dessert shops sell burnt butter toast, milk puddings and shaved ice. Street dishes are about 50 to 150 baht, and cafe or restaurant plates about 120 to 300 baht. Cash or PromptPay is best.
It suits a grazing date where you share several small dishes and then a dessert. The liveliest time is about 6:30 to 9:30 pm, and weekdays mean shorter queues at the popular dessert shops. Allow 1.5 to 3 hours, wear comfortable shoes and bring cash.
