Medium Rare Tha Tian

Restaurant in Tha Tian, steps from Wat Pho and the river.
About Medium Rare Tha Tian
Medium Rare Tha Tian is a casual grilled beef and Isaan food spot in an old shophouse on Maharaj Road, a short walk from Tha Tian pier and Wat Pho. The ground floor is open to the street without air conditioning, and there is an air-conditioned room upstairs. A second outlet nearby sits beside Wat Pho, where the temple lights up in the evening.
The namesake dish is sliced grilled beef cooked medium rare, sold in small, medium and large portions of roughly 150 to 300 baht, served with sea salt and a spicy dipping sauce. Around it come Isaan plates such as grilled intestines, grilled pork neck, larb and som tam, mostly 40 to 100 baht each, with cheap beer and bottles of wine. Wongnai rates it 101 to 250 baht per person.
It suits a relaxed, low-cost evening date after walking around Wat Pho or the riverside at sunset. Order the beef and a couple of Isaan sides to share. Expect queues at busy times, slow service when it is full and a noisy street-food feel rather than a quiet dinner.
