Tha Maharaj

Riverside mall of restaurants and shops at Maharaj pier.
About Tha Maharaj
Tha Maharaj is a small open-air shopping and dining complex on the Chao Phraya in the old town, next to Tha Phra Chan and Maharaj piers. It sits near Wat Mahathat, Thammasat University and the amulet market. The buildings are low and spread over a few levels, with wooden decks by the water and a quiet rooftop garden.
Most people come to eat and drink. There are cafes, Thai and international restaurants, and dessert shops, including a branch of Savoey that Tripadvisor lists. A few Thai-brand boutiques sell handmade crafts and accessories. There is far less shopping than at a big mall. Prices are mid-range.
It is an easy stop after a morning at the Grand Palace or nearby temples. You can sit in the river breeze and watch the boats go by. Come late afternoon to see the light change over the water, then stay for dinner. It is open about 10am to 9pm.
