Appia

Roman trattoria on Sukhumvit 31.
About Appia
Appia is a Roman-style trattoria at 20/4 Sukhumvit Soi 31, about a 10-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong. Chef Paolo Vitaletti runs it. The room is long and narrow, with floor-to-ceiling windows, warm leather banquettes and a rotisserie oven behind the bar, plus a small terrace facing the street. It feels relaxed and lively, like a neighbourhood place in Rome.
The kitchen cooks Roman family recipes: fresh pasta such as carbonara and troccoli with black truffle, chicken liver crostini, a simple zucchini salad and porchetta off the rotisserie. Dishes run from about 200 to 990 baht. One reviewer put dinner with wine at around 2,000 baht a head, and the wine list starts near 1,000 baht a bottle. Portions are generous and the flavours are bold.
It suits a relaxed dinner date where you share pasta and a bottle of wine. The room is warm and the service is often praised. Weekend lunch runs straight through the afternoon, which is a nice option for a slow midday date. The tables fill up often, so book ahead.
