Trat-style egg noodles and wontons near Wang Lang, with a café and bar upstairs.
About Kiew Nong Bua Wang Lang
Kiew Nong Bua is a noodle and wonton shop from Trat province that has been running for more than 50 years. This is its second branch, at 264 Trok Wat Rakhang off Arun Amarin Road in the Wang Lang area, right on the Chao Phraya. The two-storey building borrows from old Trat houses. Downstairs are an open kitchen, a souvenir corner and indoor and riverside seating. Upstairs is a split-level café with river views.
The food centres on wontons and fresh egg noodles made daily, plus rice dishes like duck rice and crab rice, and some seafood with a spicy dipping sauce. Most dishes cost well under 150 baht, and Wongnai rates it ฿฿ (101-250 THB a person). Some pricier crab and mantis shrimp dishes go above 200 baht.
It is an easy, low-cost daytime date. You could pair it with a walk around Wang Lang market or a boat across from Tha Chang, then sit by the water or go up to the café for a drink. Reviewers say the river breeze makes it pleasant, but tables are close together, so quieter hours are better.
